How to Join
We always need more teams to participate in our program. Our testing is
usually once or twice a year. The testing and certification qualifications
are listed below. You are responsible for training your pet-but don't worry,
it's not that hard-and your friend actually becomes a better pet because
of it!
There are some costs involved in becoming a Delta Society member. We try to keep these as low as possible, and are always looking for grants to supplement the costs to our members. Click here for the full detail of costs.
During the year, we have meetings to explain the testing procedure, and often have "practice" sessions to work with your pet. Click on our "News to Use" section to see our current evaluation and training schedule.
Once you are a registered member of our organization, we will work with you in placing you and your team member in an appropriate setting that matches your skill level and preferences.
As a registered Pet Partner, you'll also have the satisfaction of knowing you are helping people in need in your own community.
Visiting with your pet is one of the most demanding, challenging, and rewarding volunteering you will ever do.
As a Pet Partner, you will receive:
- Delta Society membership and Interactions magazine, which includes a section for Pet Partners.
- $1 million primary liability insurance.
- Identification badge for handler and collar tag for animal.
- Referral to facilities searching for Pet Partners teams.
- Exclusive offers on Pet Partners accessories.
- Eligibility for regional and national awards.
- Opportunity to network with other Pet Partners teams.
- Access to licensed Evaluators and Instructors as local resources.
- Support from the Delta Society office.
